Inaugurated by a combined group of ISPs and information appliance makers, UOPF serves as a forum where collaboration between "information appliances (hardware)" and "broadband (service)" is put into practice.
From the viewpoint of users, UOPF seeks to jointly propose "broadband x information appliances" that can be used "easily and safely by anyone," and have them penetrate everyday life in the true sense of the term. In so doing UOPF will not be dependent on any particular ISP or information appliance maker.
